Holywell School
A flagship project for Flintshire County Council.

This unique concept for Holywell School has been developed to encompass a shared site for a 240 place Primary School and Nursery, and a 600 place High School.

Classrooms stretch out into the main atrium which allows for a very open learning environment, and excellent passive surveillance opportunities for staff. The building enables the reception and office staff to share a space that overlooks the main atrium. The stunning school design features a shared sports wing which has a four court hall with full changing facilities.

Problem solving was an important part of this project, Lovelock Mitchell were tasked with finding an effective way of creating an inclusive series of of spaces for both Primary and Secondary students to share. Construction is currently well under way, and the building is due for handover in September 2016. The design will be fully compliant with BIM Level 2, meeting the 2016 government target for BIM implementation. The BREEAM “Excellent” design is on schedule to be fully operational by 2017 and has been shortlisted for the Construction Excellence Wales BIM Project of the year award 2016.
